When scheduling an engagement session, THE most common question that couples have for us is “Where should we do our engagement photos? Do you have any location suggestions?” Of course, the answer is “Definitely.” But in order to know what will be the most ideal and perfect location for you we like to ask YOU some questions in return. We like to know your style, are you city people or nature is where you feel inspires you. Is it in a field, by water, a water fall, or do you want a skyline and something more in the city? Or possibly, are you adventurous and you want to travel to somewhere outside of Atlanta, like the beach or another city?

Wherever you choose, it really should be somewhere you are comfortable , it inspires you and a place that shows who you really are as a couple. Maybe it’s somewhere that holds a personal significance or it could be somewhere you’ve always pictured using for those save the dates or your engagement announcement. Do you want to recreate your first date? Or want to set up a picnic? Or maybe go to a campsite and make s’mores?

Whether we have shot in a specific location or not, we have so much experience shooting in a variety of situations that we can handle anywhere, anytime. Because of that, don’t hesitate to throw ideas out there!

This far from a comprehensive list of location ideas that we can offer, but hopefully this can help you get started.

So we thought we’d come up with a list of spots we like around Atlanta, places we’d like to travel to around Georgia, and we’d throw in a few ideas of our own that might require a little travel but would be absolutely epic. So, follow along and check out some of the spots we picked out to showcase!

A few locations that are not listed here that we’d love to take our couples to are the streets and buildings around the High Museum of Art, a farm with cherry blossoms, New York City, Colorado, Oregon, California…..seriously though, if you are interested in an engagement session on any location, let us know and we will work it out! Let’s chat and come up with a place for your engagement or even proposal that will be memorable and special for you.

Wormsloe Historic Site

The Wormsloe Historic Site aka Wormsloe Plantation, is a state historic site near Savannah, and is well known for it’s beautiful southern charm. The tree lined wide road the runs through it makes a perfect back drop for a romantic southern engagement session.

Driftwood Beach, Jekyll Island

Jekyll Island’s beloved Driftwood Beach, is an enchanting beach lined with old weathered trees and driftwood. For something a little different, AND on the beach, this spot is high up on our lists of locations we’d love to shoot a session.

Toccoa Falls

Toccoa Falls is a 186 feet high beautiful waterfall and is commonly said to be the highest single drop waterfall east of the Mississippi. Easily accessible and honestly one of the prettiest spots in North Georgia, you can’t go wrong with making a day trip out of your engagement session to this location.

Arabia Mountain

Arabia Mountain is about 30 miles east of the city and has beautiful panoramic views as well as little reflecting pools during the wetter months. And during the spring, the diamorpha bloom and create seas of red or later in the year, it’s full of yellow blooms. Pretty, right?

Sawnee Mountain

40 miles north of Atlanta in Cumming, Sawnee Mountain visibly links to the summit of the Blue Ridge Mountain Range. If you are looking for a location that has that high above the tree top, mountainous feel, Sawnee Mountain is a great option.

Yonah Mountain

Yonah (Cherokee word for “Bear) Mountain is a mountain ridge located in the Chattahoochee National Forest between the towns of Cleveland and Helen. The hike to the top is not for the faint of heart. But if you are adventurous and looking for something similar to one of our favorite scenes from Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightly, this one is for you.

Kennesaw Mountain

One of the most iconic parks in the northwest part of Atlanta, Kennesaw mountain offers an array of options for your backdrop. Such as wide open fields, wooded trails, the Atlanta skyline from the top of the mountain, and even little streams in places.

Roswell Mill

Roswell Mill is located in the heart of Roswell and is an easy walk to the bridge and waterfall that makes it one of our most requested locations. (Note: Currently as of 2/13/20, portions are closed for construction due to damage from recent flooding)

Sope Creek Paper Mill Ruins

Nestled in the woods closer to town are the historic ruins of an old paper mill right on a beautiful creek. It does require about a mile or so of hiking, so bring a change of shoes, but we promise, it’s totally worth it!

Swan House, Atlanta History Center

Coming ITP, one of the moist quintessential Atlanta wedding venues and engagement session backdrops is the Swan House . Beautiful grounds, epic stair cases, giving a luxurious feel to your engagement pics, we think every photographer in Atlanta drools at the chance to shoot here. (Note: There is a considerable fee for shooting at the Swan House and it must be scheduled in advance.)

Cator Woolford Gardens

There’s a reason these gardens make both our venue wishlist and as a location for engagement sessions. And it’s because it is one of the prettiest unique locations. With a beautiful staircase, grecian pillars all mixed in with well kept gardens, even if you don’t have your session here, you should stop by and visit. (Note: This location has a $50 fee and requires that we book an appointment in advance.)

Atlanta Botanical Gardens

If you want never ending flowers and a sea of options for backgrounds for your engagement session, then the Atlanta Botanical Gardens should be high on your list. Our personal favorite area of the gardens is the Orchid Room. Part of the building has lush tropical plants that hang from the ceiling and when the sun comes in through the windows in the late afternoon, it is magic.  (Note: This location has a $250 fee and requires that we book an appointment in advance.)

Piedmont Park

Another iconic location in Atlanta is Piedmont Park. Perfect for a nature backdrop with water, and plenty of opportunity to take advantage of the skyline.

Ponce City Market & The Beltline

This is one of those locations that has been revitalized by development in the past few years. And lucky for us because it makes a fun back drop for your engagement session. Lots of spaces for interesting photos, you can pit stop for a drink and then on to the Beltline to wander and catch some rays.
